AL, the optional AI assistant
AL is an AI chat helper for general information. It only works if you say yes, and the rest of PEPTIDAL works without it.
What AL is
AL is an AI assistant inside PEPTIDAL. You can ask it general questions about what you read and log. It is powered by Claude, an AI made by Anthropic PBC, a company in the United States. AL is an AI, not a doctor. It can get things wrong. Every AL chat screen carries the label: AI chat. Not medical advice.
What AL will not do
- Give personal dosing advice, or tell you how much, how often or for how long.
- Tell you to start, stop, increase, decrease or switch anything.
- Give a personal safety verdict, or diagnose a symptom.
If you tell AL an amount you are taking, it will not say whether that is right. It hands the question back to you and your prescriber. If you describe something that sounds urgent, it tells you to get medical help straight away. Always check with your prescriber or pharmacist.
Consent: nothing is sent until you agree
Before your first AL message, the app shows a consent screen. Nothing is sent for AL until you tap Agree and chat with AL. The No thanks button is the same size and weight. If you tap No thanks, nothing is sent and AL stays off.
What is sent each time you send AL a message
- Your last 20 chat messages
- Your current protocols, with the doses and schedule you entered
- Your last 8 doses you logged
- Your latest body log: weight, body fat, lean mass, waist and sleep hours
- Your last 8 lab results
This is health information, which the law treats as extra sensitive.
What is not sent
- Your name, email address or account ID
- Anything from Apple Health or Health Connect, unless you turn that on separately in Settings
Anything you type could still show who you are, so please do not type names or contact details.
Who gets it and why
Anthropic PBC receives it so AL can answer questions about your own logs. We do not use it for adverts and we do not sell it. As of 11 October 2026, Anthropic says it deletes this within 30 days, may keep a chat for up to 2 years if its safety checks flag it, and does not use it to train its AI by default. These are Anthropic's statements and may change, so please see our Privacy Policy for the current position.
Apple Health and Health Connect data is a separate choice
There is a separate switch in Settings, off by default, that lets AL also see sleep, weight, body fat and lean body mass that came from Apple Health or Health Connect. It only works when AL is on and asks you to confirm. Heart rate variability, resting heart rate and VO2 max are never sent to AL, even with the switch on.
Changing your mind
You can turn AL off at any time in Settings. We then stop sending anything and delete your AL chats from your phone. Anthropic may still hold what it already has for up to 30 days. AL chats are kept on your device only, and chats older than 7 days are removed. You can also delete AL chats without turning AL off.
Reporting a reply
Under each AL reply there is a Report this reply button. We record your report so we can look at it. You can also email [email protected].
Limits
There is a daily limit on AL messages. If the wording of what is sent ever changes, the app pauses AL and asks you again before sending anything.
